Welcome to the BritCrime Blog

http://britcrime.com

BritCrime was set up by British crime writer Helen Smith. The authors participating in the first BritCrime Festival are forty British authors and one American who live in the UK.

We became friends after meeting at book launches, library talks, literary festivals and crime writing conventions here and abroad. We love meeting readers at these events, but we always hear from disappointed people who feel left out because they weren’t able to attend.

BritCrime was set up to give readers an opportunity to meet us at an online festival and participate in live Q&As and giveaways. We hope our first event will allow everyone to enjoy some of the same intense, unpredictable, hilarious, intelligent discussions that keep us going back to live events. Our first BritCrime online festival will take place 11–13 July 2015.

We are still finalising the programme, but expect live Q&As featuring panels of four authors at a time answering questions from readers around the world in two hour sessions, midday to 10.00pm UK time on Saturday and Sunday, with more informal “Meet Us in the Bar” sessions 10.00 pm to midnight after the panels.

We will host these sessions on our Facebook Page because it’s free, and it’s accessible to everyone. Monday 13 will provide a wrap-up of events, with reports from BritCrime authors attending ThrillerFest in New York, as well as a look forward to Harrogate the following week, where many of us will be out in force. And, of course, there will be a last chance to enter our Kindle Paperwhite giveaway, ending midnight UK time on Monday.

In the run-up to the BritCrime Festival we will be making exclusive content available via our Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and website pages, including giveaways, videos, a photo gallery and more. There will be opportunities for readers and bloggers to get involved by contributing photos, blogging and tweeting about BritCrime, entering our giveaways and – most important of all – joining us for the BritCrime Festival, 11–13 July.

As Sarah Hilary says, “It’s the crime writing festival you can attend in your pjs.”

 See you there?
